Start With Your Energy Use
Review recent electricity bills and consider how your household's energy use may change. System size should be considered in the context of actual usage and site conditions.
Evaluate the Roof
Roof age, orientation, shade, structural condition, and available area can affect a solar project's design. If the roof is nearing replacement, discuss timing before installing panels.
Compare Proposals on the Same Assumptions
Look at system size, expected production, equipment, warranties, financing terms, utility assumptions, maintenance, and monitoring. A lower upfront number is not automatically the best value.
Ask About the Full Process
Ask who handles permits and utility interconnection, what happens if production differs from estimates, how repairs are handled, and whether storage is included or optional.
